Our Team
Chiropractic Arts has proudly served the community since January 1, 1990, from our current location. Founded by Dr. Barbara Buettner, the practice was built on a vision of providing personalized, hands-on chiropractic care in a welcoming and supportive environment. After gaining valuable experience working alongside a local chiropractor, Dr. Buettner opened her solo practice with a commitment to patient-centered wellness.
At Chiropractic Arts, we believe true healing often requires more than just an adjustment. That’s why we combine chiropractic care with complementary therapies like massage, muscle work, hot and cold therapy, and personalized exercise plans. Each treatment plan is thoughtfully tailored to the individual, ensuring that every patient receives care that fits their unique needs and lifestyle.
We care for people of all ages—from newborns to seniors—and for every stage of life, whether you're recovering from pain, managing a chronic condition, or maintaining your overall health and wellness. Our goal is to support your well-being in all aspects of your daily life.
Chiropractic Arts is a fun-loving, easygoing, and deeply compassionate practice. We treat every patient like family and strive to make your experience with us both effective and uplifting. When you walk through our doors, you can expect a genuinely personalized and supportive approach to your health care.
Dr. Barbara Buettner
Hi, I’m Dr. Barbara Buettner, D.C.—that stands for Doctor of Chiropractic, a degree I proudly earned from Life Chiropractic College in 1987. I’m a Cullman native through and through, and I love this city, especially watching it grow and thrive over the years! Both of my parents, Richard and the late Barbara Buettner, are also from Cullman, and I’m a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
I truly believe that God led me to become a chiropractor. It’s a meaningful and somewhat unexpected journey, and I’d love to share the story with you sometime. Before attending chiropractic school in Georgia, I graduated from Cullman High School and pursued college coursework at Auburn University, the University of Alabama, and Wallace State. I was focused on finishing my prerequisites for Life College as quickly as possible... and yes, I still say “War Eagle!”
I opened Chiropractic Arts in 1990, and since then, it has been an incredible adventure filled with growth, learning, and deep connections. Over the years, I’ve been blessed to care for multiple generations of families, some even into the fourth generation! Word travels fast when you’re committed to truly caring for people.
Our office has always had a soft spot for animals, and they’ve played a special role in our healing environment. Right now, we have a black German Shepherd named Tesla (“Tess” for short) and a sugar glider named Clarice. In 2015, we lost our beloved Emma, the most famous office dog who greeted patients for over eleven years. We believe animals bring a unique sense of comfort and calm to the healing process.
I’m married to Dewayne Jennings of Vinemont. He’s a retired military veteran and currently manages our farm, Paradise Hollow. We live on the west side of Cullman with our many animals…two more dogs, four cats, and a pond full of koi and fish. I love horseback riding with my mare, Spice, and driving my pony, Winx. In my spare time, I enjoy training animals, riding motorcycles, camping, hiking, fishing, knitting, and cruising around in my convertible on “the Dragon.” It’s a busy life, but it’s a joyful one!
Come visit me at Chiropractic Arts. I’d love to hear about your latest adventure while helping you feel your best with a great adjustment!
Dr. Scott Wood
Hello! I’m Dr. Scott Wood, D.C. I recently relocated to Cullman after being away from my hometown for several years. I am thrilled to join Dr. Buettner’s warm and welcoming clinic.
In 2001, I earned my Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Life University in Atlanta. That same year, I moved back to Alabama and married my wife, Heather. Although I grew up in Montgomery, I truly found my home and community in this region. For over 23 years, I proudly served patients at my clinic, HealthChoice Chiropractic, in Gardendale.
I am passionate about helping patients reduce pain and regain function. I specialize in manual spinal decompression therapy for bulging or herniated discs. Like Dr. Buettner, I am a full-spine chiropractor, and I tailor my techniques to each patient. I frequently use the Thompson technique with a specialized adjusting table and also offer gentle activator adjustments when needed.
Outside of the office, my wife and I enjoy life with our two rescue pups, one is just five months old and the other a spirited ten-year-old. We love spending time on Smith Lake aboard our pontoon, and I’m always up for water skiing, working on cars, or tackling a new construction project. I’ve always been fascinated by anything mechanical.
I’m honored to be part of Chiropractic Arts and look forward to working alongside you to reach your health and wellness goals.
Whitney Parks
Hey y’all! I’m Whitney Parks, the Office Manager at Chiropractic Arts. I’ve been working alongside Dr. Barb since January 2022. I’m the one who greets you, answers the phone, takes your X-rays, handles your insurance, and schedules your future appointments! It’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it…and I’m that gal.
I’ve been married to Kenny Parks for almost fifteen years now. You might see us around the Cullman softball fields cheering on our daughters. We have three very social girls who keep us busy year-round with sports! Anna Grace is seventeen, graduating this year, and heading to Wallace State Community College in the fall. Go Lions! Kenly is fourteen, and Sophia—my baby—is ten. We’re always on the go, but I guess that’s what keeps us young.
When we’re not at a ball field, I love spending time with my family and our two fur babies. I’m a true people person who enjoys meeting new faces and helping others. I absolutely love working with the amazing team and patients here at Chiropractic Arts. I can’t wait to meet you and hear your story!
Tesla Buettner
Hello Hoomans! I'm Tesla Buettner, but you can call me Tess the public relations pupperino. My hooman is Dr. Buettner (aka Mommmmmmmmm). I was born on July 4, 2016, and I’ve been with my hooman since I was just a wee pup. She's kinda the best!
My best fur fren is Ranger, my bruder. We chase balls, swim in the pond, go on hikes, and play with our kitties. I love all animals… except those squeaky tree rats. Oof... I really hate them. One of my favorite things to do is run next to mom while she rides her horses.
I'm a certified therapy dog through the Alliance of Therapy Dogs. I love visiting people and showing off my tricks. I know lots of them, but my absolute favorite is "speak!" I'll do a trick for a snackie or two… so don't forget that if you come to visit me!
I come to work with my mom every day, and I love it! I was made to be a working dog. You’ll probably find me in Mom's office, taking a nap or chewing on a chew. I love meeting everyone, but always remember to ask before petting me or any animal. Safety First! I’m super friendly, but hey, sometimes you don’t get so lucky.
I can’t wait to see you all soon! Awoooooooooo!
P.S.S.S - Come see my hooman so she can keep buying me the good snackies and comfy beds!
